Revelation of the Black Horse
A serial killer has moved to Devon from Canada and changed her name. As Martha Henry, she still feels an urge to kill adulterous men, but it’s tempered by the love she feels for her dog. While walking him, she meets solicitor Adam Carlson, who is defending a man on trial for the brutal murder of his wife’s lover, Jacob Cooper. As Henry and Carlson connect, she discovers the mutilated body of local accountant Robert Weller near her cottage – making her the prime suspect in the police investigation. But the similarities between the Cooper and Weller murders concern DI John Landis. Could he have got it wrong when he arrested Timothy Linquist? Is a serial killer on the loose in Salcombe?
As Landis gets to work, Canadian racetrack vet Larry Potter and his wife, detective Jenna Lawson, arrive in the UK on vacation. Potter sees a newspaper story on the Linquist trial. A woman in the accompanying photo resembles a long-time friend. He’d put his life on the line for her after she was arrested for murder, but she vanished after the charges against her were dropped. Fate brings the two of them together again…
